Embark on a scenic journey north of Quito along the Pan-American Highway, passing through charming villages rich in tradition and flavors. Our first stop is Guayllabamba, famous for its delicious chirimoya and avocado production. Then, we arrive in Cayambe, where you can indulge in the town’s legendary bizcochos (buttery biscuits), hot chocolate, and fresh cheese or simply relax with a warm cup of coffee. If you haven’t yet visited the Equator Line, we can make a stop at Quitsato, a fascinating site that offers a unique perspective on the Middle of the World.
Our adventure continues to Otavalo, home to one of the most vibrant and colorful markets in South America. Immerse yourself in the rich culture of the Otavalo Indigenous community, explore their beautifully crafted handicrafts and textiles, and witness traditions that have been passed down for centuries.
Next, we head to Cotacachi, Ecuador’s renowned leather capital, where you’ll find an incredible variety of handcrafted leather goods jackets, bags, shoes, and more! This picturesque town is also our stop for a delightful lunch before we continue to the Peguche weavers’ community, where skilled artisans still produce traditional handwoven textiles using ancestral techniques.
A short hike takes us to the sacred Peguche Waterfall, an important spiritual site where locals perform traditional solstice rituals. To end this incredible journey, we visit the breathtaking San Pablo Lake, the largest in the province, nestled at the foot of the majestic Taita Imbabura Volcano a perfect spot for stunning landscape photography.
