Cotopaxi National Park
A Thrilling Adventure Above the Clouds!
Get ready for an unforgettable journey to one of the world’s most iconic active volcanoes! Departing at 7:30 AM, we head south along the Avenue of the Volcanoes, passing through charming villages before arriving at the breathtaking Cotopaxi National Park.
Upon registration at the park entrance, we drive through a mystical pine forest, watching the landscape transform as we ascend in altitude. At 3,870 meters (12,700 ft), we reach Limpiopungo Lake, where you can opt for an easy scenic hike, spotting native flora, wild horses, and Andean birds while admiring the reflection of the mighty Cotopaxi in the water.
For those seeking a true test of endurance, we continue our ascent to 4,500 meters (14,760 ft), where an exhilarating hike to the José Rivas Refuge (4,864 m / 15,958 ft) awaits. Here, you’ll conquer the heights, soak in the breathtaking views, and warm up with a hot drink at the refuge before making your way back down.
If hiking at extreme altitudes isn’t your thing, you can also visit a beautifully preserved 300-year-old hacienda, where history and tranquility blend seamlessly with the surrounding Andean landscape.
